This article investigates the presence of Pir and his various froms in the book Kashf al- Asrar and
Mukashefat al- Anwar by Ruzbehan Baqli Shirazi, a mystic of the Sixth century AH. The stories
in the book present the mystical teachings of the author allegorically using elements such as
myths, rwligious stories, and the subconscious mind as well as creation of a cryptic atmosphere.
Pir is one of prominent concepts in the book and is used by Ruzbihan in various forms such
as prophets, guides or Murshids (mentors), and even other beings who guide the seeker on the
spiritual journey and direct him to his destination . It seems that. All these descriptions are
intended to create an ennobled atmosphere for the mystic or the seeker in which he can face his
self and connect with the truth.
