Introduction and Purpose: The present article aimed to investigate the sociological critique of
Savushun using Pierre Bourdieu's sociological theory of capital. It should be said that Persian
literature, along with its many different functions could be a basis to help sociology in analyzing
the complex relationships of human society. In the meantime, using different theories of
sociology in the analysis of literary texts provides a basis for a new and different understanding
of literary texts. Due to its intense social nature, the the novel framework can be more useful in
this field. Therefore, in this article, we have sought to analyze one of the important sociological
theories, namely Pierre Bourdieu's theory of capital, in one of the most important contemporary
Persian novels, i.e., Savushun by Simin Daneshvar.
Method: This study was performed analytically.
Conclusion: Based on Pierre Bourdieu's theory of capital, the effect of different types of men's
capital in this novel on their reactions and their capital changes has been one of the favorite
topics in this article.
