The book of “Memories of Shazdeye Hamam” (Memories of the Lord of the Bath), is written
by dr. Mohammad-Hosein Papoli Yazdi, who is a human geography professor. In this book, the
author presents an actual view of the social and cultural features of Yazd during the 1330s with
an anthropological point of view. He has reflected the realities by using his observations and
experiences. In this article, the authors try to describe the main realistic features and the detailed
descriptions of this book, such as social, cultural and political conditions, locations, epochs,
characters, moral characteristics, language and accent, economic conditions and the social gaps,
in a descriptive and content analysis method. In the short stories of this book, the characters are
alive, real, diverse and multifarious. In fact, he has lived what he has written, and through this
way, he affirms the realism in his book by expressing the details, having the sense of sympathy
and describing the events, relationships between humans, ethical norms and social situations.
In papoli’s stories, realistic features are very repetitive, and one of the most important of this
realistic features is the expression of social events. He did not neglected the description of details
of everyday life, during the analysis of relations in society. Also, by reviewing the social events of
Yazd in 1330s, Papoli has given a historical value to his stories.
