Myth is to know primarily people at old time from human and world around him reflected on
our nation's culture and literature by deforming this knowledge and this muth conyinues to live.
One of the ways of transfering myth from one generation to another one is to reflect it at folk
stories. In fact, myth is to narrate stories belonging to non-commence times that has relegious,
national and racial beliefs. Bakhtiar Nameh is one of the folk stories that was left from Parthian
and Sasanian periods that roots of myth can be seen there. This study aims to investigate myth
themes of Bakhtiar Nameh by content analysis. Author of this study assumed that this story
has mythical deep structure and can represent myth elements such as acquaintance tradition
and its three steps including separation, change and return. Based on the results of this study,
acquaintance tradition and its whole steps are adaptive with theme of this story. Also, at this
story, elements such as desert, well, fosterling, number ten, etc has myth root that were analysed
and proved at this study.
