Abstract Oral customs or literature is a set of ancestors' achievements that form the identity of every human being and it is transmitted orally from one generation to generation and remains a valuable legacy. The proverbs of the people of Saadi neighborhood of Shiraz, which is a manifestation of culture, are rooted in the events and events of society, sometimes in the form of prose, a pity or a bit. The proverbs of this study are compiled in a library field with an explanatory descriptive approach. Because in this method, in addition to the classification, the root and how the proverbs is formed is also examined. The purpose of this study is to note that in addition to identifying the specific proverbs of the people of this historic place, the origins and meaning of some proverbs are to be considered and the ultimate goal is to try to record and sustain them. The results of the study also show that most of the proverbs of the people in this neighborhood are humorous and some others and people have made and dealt with many of the proverbs based on the lives, experiences, events, and especially the events that have taken place for the elders of the local people and often use them for advice.
