It is of crucial significance to study the approach of divine tests and their types in the Quran.
After the revelation of the Quran, scholars paid special attention to the concept of divine tests
considering the Quranic verses, the hadith, and selected quotations of religious leaders. This
research explores the evolution of the concept of divine tests and ways to heal and pass through
them and is an attempt to answer the question of what the approaches of the Quran, Hadiqat
al Haqiqa va Tarigqh al-Shari'at, Manṭiq-uṭ-Ṭayr, and Masnavi-ye-Ma'navi are to this concept.
The results show that the mythical thought school has had diverse perceptions of the concept of
divine tests depending on cultural conditions and perspectives. In mystics’ view, divine tests are
conducted to distinguish pure from impure. The ways to pass through them are to fight with self,
arrogance, and greed and to enhance knowledge, faith, exercise, sincerity, contentment, belief,
obedience, repentance, trust, and so on.
