Pronoun is one of the most floating elements and parts of the poetic texture. Although it has
a substitutional function and is apparently one of the tiniest parts of speech, its linguistic
capabilities are enormous and remarkable. By removing the names and substituting them with
pronouns on the one hand, and making pronouns floating on the other, Hafiz enhances and
encourages the dynamism of his poetry. In this survey, some of pronoun capabilities in the
poems of Hafiz will be studied through descriptive-analytical method from the viewpoint of its
mobility and floating quality. In the light of al-Jurjani’s emphasis on the totality of the parts of
speech and the importance of the placement of the word in coherent texture for the best meaning
to be carried out, we will trace the linguistic capacities of floating pronouns and increasing
changes they bring about in Hafiz poetry. It will be argued that the floating pronouns, in addition
to different usual functions, allow for the expansion of meaning, several communications on
vertical and horizontal axes, involvement of a large number of addressees and referents, and
foregrounding of his poems language.
