Malek-o-Sho’ara-ye-Bahar is among those modern Iranian poets who have made attention
to theme and content along with the shape and exterior structure of his poems. Therefore,
formalistic analysis of his poems will give desirable results, such as making aesthetic aspects of
his poems clear. Freedom and homeland, are two categories which always have effective presence
in his odes and affect his poem’s form and shape. Dominant aspect in most of his odes consist
of political and social problems and themes related to them which has been manifested through
language, image, music, compositions and other building elements. Mastery of Bahar is in using
formalistic elements in transferring considered concepts and content. Imaginary elements in
almost all of Bahar’s odes has been taken from classical Persian poem. Although the language
of his poems is so simple and fluent, but has a fully classical substructure, and because of this,
various types of abnormality have been noted in his poem. The balance and interaction between
language, music, images and stylistically elements in odes of Bahar are the most important
formalistic approaches of him in poetic arena, and maybe the secret of his growing success and
popularity lies in his orientation towards simpleness and avoidance of extremes in his poems’
content and shape.
