Code or symbol is one of the most artistic techniques that has a wide and diverse effect in
human culture and civilization and it has long attracted the attention of the great writers and
poets of the Persian language, and especially in mystical literature, it has a deep root. The poet
Arif Maslak tries to create images that deal with the innermost things and people by using
codes and symbols. The purpose of this article is the symbolism of "water" in the works of Attar
Neishabouri, which was done in a library method and in a descriptive-analytical way . In this
article, while defining the symbol and examining its background and types, the manifestations
of symbolization in poetry, mystical symbolization and its origin are discussed, and then, by
examining the symbol of water in Iranian culture and its place in the Qur'an, the use of this
symbol in Attar's works is discussed. Nishaburi has discussed the deep mystical meanings in the
project and while examining the types of water in Attar's works and its multiple uses in different
meanings and symbols, the symbolic use of water is the final discussion of this article.
